Our industry needs trained workers, now!
The U.S. maintains a sizable competitive edge in advanced composite research, manufacturing and distribution. There are more than 500,000 people employed in upwards of 7,000 companies, producing everything from airplane bodies to sports equipment to automobile parts. Advanced composites are characterized by the use of high-performance resin systems and high-strength, high-stiffness fiber reinforcement. The industry estimates that more than 50,000 new products could utilize advanced composite materials.
How many automotive, aerospace or consumer goods manufacturers operate within the region? Do you have any colleges offering composites science and/or
engineering? How about trade schools?
A quick look in your own backyard may assist in determining the type of program to establish. With 7000 U.S. based companies involved in the composites industry, there is a strong likelihood that advanced composites are operating right under your nose.
